Situated in the suburb of Fuhlsbüttel, 8.5 km north of the city center, it was opened in January 1911 and is the oldest operating airport in Germany. Ranking fifth in terms of traffic among German airports, Hamburg Airport handles around 12 million passengers annually. It boasts two asphalt runways measuring 3250 meters and 3666 meters, serving as the main hub for airlines such as Germanwings, EasyJet, Condor, and TUIfly.
Hamburg Airport has excellent transportation links with the city, accessible via a dedicated airport express train, the Hamburg U-Bahn metro, city buses (routes 274, 292, 392), and taxis. Additionally, night buses on route 606 operate during late hours.
