Our webcam allows you to observe Wallenstein Square in the historic center of Jicin in Czech Republic. This vast square is located in the Bohemian Paradise area and is surrounded by buildings with arcades. In the center of the square is a fountain with Amphitrite, which you can see in real time.
Wallenstein Square is located between Wallenstein and Tomashskaya streets. The name of this square comes from the Wallenstein Palace, which is located on the eastern part of the square and was built by Albrecht Vaclav Eusebius von Wallenstein. The original name of this area, “At the Pisetsky Brans”, came from the closely spaced gates.
From the middle of the 18th century until 1935, when the current name was adopted, the square was called Valdsztynska.
Currently, the Wallenstein Palace (No. 17/4) serves as the seat of the Senate, the upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Don’t forget to visit the Wallenstein Garden, which is part of this complex. If you are lucky, you will be able to see walking peacocks.
From Wallenstein Square you can see the Waldice Gate, which was part of the city’s fortifications between 1568 and 1578. In addition, there are many other historical attractions in the area.
The city of Jicin is a municipal reserve due to its important historical center, which is located in the protected landscape area of the Bohemian Paradise in the Hradec Králové region.
