This live webcam provides a unique opportunity to observe the activity of Mayon Volcano, also known as Mount Mayon.
Located in the Albay province of Bicol, Philippines, this stratovolcano is one of the most popular tourist spots in the region due to its exquisite cone, which is known for its symmetrical shape and is considered sacred in Philippine mythology.
The Mayon Volcano and its surrounding landscape were declared a national park on July 20, 1938, becoming the first national park in the country.
In 2000, it was reclassified as a natural park and renamed the Mayon Volcano Natural Park. This volcano is the centerpiece of the Albay Biosphere Reserve, which was recognized by UNESCO in 2016 and is currently being nominated as a World Heritage Site.
Mayon is considered the most active volcano in the Philippines and its activity is regularly monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) from its provincial office on Linyon Hill, which is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the summit.
